The Town of Wenham, originally settled in 1643, has retained much of its unique historic character and tranquil rural scenery. With nearly 300 acres of parks, playgrounds and recreational lands, Wenham is a town of many open views of farm lands, lakes, woodlands and old stone walls that accompany winding tree-lined roads. A walk along Wenham's main street provides a timeless picture of beautiful old homes, gardens and yards, giving one a general sense of New England small town life. Fun fact: Wenham Lake, located in Wenham and Beverly, was famous in the 19th century for its ice, harvested and transported by ship throughout the world, and reputed to be Queen Victoria's favorite.
