Gordon Harris, Ipswich town historian, chairman of the Ipswich Historical Commission, and editor of Historic Ipswich, the commission’s website, leads the Walking Tours of Historic Ipswich, a 1.5 hour guided walk with stops at historic sites. They visit the South Green, the East End, High Street and return on North Main Street through the Meetinghouse Green Historic District. You’ll hear stories about life in America’s best-preserved Puritan town, view first and second period homes and other interesting architecture, and explore the unique geography of our town. It’s a fun way to get outdoors for some light exercise and step back in time to early Ipswich! Walking distance varies depending on the pace of each group.
