Valerie McCaffrey: Landscapes - Out of My Mind and Into Yours

Come to the Wenham Museum to meet local artist Valerie McCaffrey and hear about the creative process for her paintings, many of which were inspired by the scenery right here in Essex County. This spectacular exhibit is a retrospective of landscape paintings created by the artist over the past two decades. McCaffrey's style is deceptively naïve – visitors might correctly be reminded of Grandma Moses.

First Parish Church Sanctuary and Burying Ground

Both the historic Sanctuary and Burying Ground of First Parish Church of Newbury, 20 High Road, will be open, with guides to provide information and answer any questions. Gathered in 1635, First Parish is the oldest, "mother church", in the Newburyport area and many of the original settlers and their descendants are buried in the Burying Ground, including Henry Sewall, Tristram Coffin and his wife Judith, and the Reverend John Tucker. Come visit our historic sites - there will be a scavenger hunt in the Burying Ground!

Discover Danvers through artifacts of yesterday and talents of today. An open house to celebrate everyone's unique stories and talents. Call the office to be an exhibitor and/or a performer. All talents welcome. We want to hear your stories. All ages welcome. View exhibits of yesterday and today at Tapley Memorial Hall.

Come have fun with us on Saturday, September 29th. PRINT WITH LETTERPRESS at our family-friendly TRAILS & SAILS event! Cast your name in metal type and take a turn cranking a Vandercook press to make a print all your own. You'll take home a keepsake and a story to share with friends and family. And be sure to tour the Museum while you're here! The Museum of Printing is dedicated to preserving the rich history of graphic arts, printing equipment, and printing craftsmanship.

Sail on the Schooner Fame!

In honor of our partners at Essex Heritage, we are offering a free sail on the Schooner FAME! FAME is a full-scale replica of a famous privateer schooner that sailed from Salem during the War of 1812 and captured 20 ships! We sail up to five times a day between May and October from Pickering Wharf Marina in downtown Salem. Our ticket booth is outside the old Victoria Station restaurant — soon to be the new & improved FINZ! The schooner is available for private events as well as public sails.

Rally for the Union: Lawrence in the Civil War

Come learn about Lawrence's participation in the Civil War from 1861 -1865. Lecture includes SH Needham, Baltimore Riot, local citizen soldiers involvement in Gettysburg, Antietam,Bull Run and more. Hear the stories of Civil War Navy battles, Dual of the Iron Clads at Hampton Roads. Tales of suffering in the prisons, Andersonville, Libby & Belle Island. An hour long lecture in historic City Hall with Power Point presentation, exhibit & artifacts of Lawrence's Boy's in Blue. All ages welcome, free to public

Please join us as AnnTiques welcomes you to travel through time in their eclectic curated global emporium of mid-century modern, vintage and antique furniture, lighting, jewelry, art, textiles, rugs, pottery, art glass, Native American selections, vintage music and ephemera collections. Owner Ann Orcutt is passionate about bringing you wonderful examples of items that are displayed in vignettes so that you may be able to visualize your choices in your home or office.

Folk Art Show Featuring Artist Johanne Cassia

Enjoy visiting Ipswich, America's first period town, to view a historic American folk art show featuring folk artist, JOHANNE CASSIA at Hall Haskell House Visitor Center Gallery! This art show is open FREE to the public. The Hall Haskell House historic site gallery is a wonderful place to view art reflecting early American history. Johanne Cassia, american folk artist, is one of a small number of artists painting in 17th and 18th century style. Johanne is an accomplished artist who creates early village scenes, maritime seascapes, and landscapes.
