Tour the Topsfield Town Common National Register District (2014 event)

Visit Topsfield’s Common, recognized as one of the most picturesque in New England, and see fine examples of the major periods of American architecture, from the First Period Parson Capen House to the Georgian Revival Town Library. The Town grew up around the Colonial Training Field beginning with the addition of the Parson Capen House and the Meetinghouse. Subsequently, the colorful Topsfield Emerson Family played a major role in shaping the development of the Common. The Common bears witness to the Witchcraft Hysteria, the American Revolution and the Civil War.
