Drawing on private journals, letters, ships’ logs, memoirs, and newspaper accounts, Dane Morrison, Professor of Early American History at Salem State University, will discuss America’s earliest encounters on a global stage through the exhilarating experiences of Yankee seafarers. Professor Morrison's new book -- True Yankees: The South Seas and the Discovery of American Identity -- will be available for purchase at the lecture and he will be doing a book signing immediately following the lecture.
