Welcome! Essex Heritage offers a variety of programs in Salem and beyond, inviting you to explore the rich history of the region.
Throughout the season, we run programs both on land and at sea. In spring and summer, our boat Naumkeag carries visitors out to Bakers Island and Misery Island, along with a number of Salem Harbor excursions. Our Witch Trials–era programming runs throughout the season, uncovering the true history behind 1692’s accusations, trials, and executions. And each fall, our seasonal programming turns to the darker side of Essex County’s past, with haunting harbor tales and legends of the North Shore. Whether you’re a local or just visiting the region, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy and explore.
