The Creation of the Common and the Old Center

Hosted By:

North Andover Historical Society

Scheduling Note:

Group will assemble at North Andover Historical Society Headquarters to sign in and view exhibit. Walking tour will leave at 4:20 pm
If you thought that the North Andover Common dates back to colonial times, you are not alone! Join us for the true story behind this iconic feature of the town's landscape, starting with our current exhibit and followed by a walking tour to explore the changes in the Old Center from 1825 until today. You will have a better appreciation for the work of the North Andover Improvement Society and other area personalities who took a dusty, forgotten crossroads village and made it a pleasant and quaint colonial revival Center.

Special Instructions:

If using a mapping app for directions, please use 800 Massachusetts Avenue and not 153 Academy Road. Due to 2007 changes in the Old Center our location is somehow still showing on the far end of our property and not at the intersection of Academy Road and Massachusetts Avenue. Pets are welcome on the walking portion of this program.
