Introduction to Outdoor Rock Climbing Class With REI Outdoor School

Come learn the basics of rock climbing outdoors. We'll focus on building solid fundamental skills, such as belaying, crack-climbing technique and face-climbing technique. If you've only climbed inside or you're looking to explore rock climbing for the first time, this is your opportunity to practice with professional rock climbing instructors. We provide harnesses, helmets and all the necessary gear for you to try out this fun and challenging sport! Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.

Special Instructions: 

REQUIRED GEAR to bring to class: Lunch & Snacks, a daypack large enough to carry water, food and layers; at least 2 liters of water (in water bottles bottles or a hydration bladder); and hiking boots. Optional: sun protection (lip balm, sunscreen, wide-brim hats, etc.); rain gear (waterproof/resistant jacket, pants and hat); energy snacks; lip balm/protection; hydration compatible day pack (1000-2000 cubic inches with 70-100 oz water bladder). GEAR PROVIDED BY REI: belay devise; climbing shoes; climbing helmet; climbing harness.

Driving Directions: 

I-95 North to Rte-128 N. Take Exit 14 for Rte-133. Turn left off the exit ramp. The pull off is on your immediate left after the highway underpass. If you reach the storage facility you have gone too far! You will meet your instructors in this lot.
