Manchester-by-the-Sea is filled with exclusive estates and nook and cranny neighborhoods tucked along scenic Route 127. The town was first settled in 1629 and was officially incorporated in 1645. Before that, the area was part of the town of Salem, and before that belonged to the Agawam Indians. Today, with a 12.8 mile tidal shore line, Manchester-by-the-Sea is probably best known for its beautiful beaches, a renowned yachting harbor, and commercial lobstering. Coastal Byway Miles: 4.5
